Too many young children in the U.S. reach kindergarten without the skills they need to do well in school. The problem is even worse for kids living in poverty. But when you make a gift to Reach Out and Read, you’re giving children of all backgrounds a better start to life.
You can help create a world where every child has the relationships and the resources essential to learn and thrive – all through the power of shared reading.
Reach Out and Read is a 501(c)3 organization (EIN 04-3481253). Your gift is tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
“Too often we invest in our own children but not in children as a whole. So the kids who most need help don't get it until they show up in kindergarten or first grade, when most of brain development has already occurred.
By ‘prescribing’ books during pediatric visits – and giving the books away for free – Reach Out and Read ushers children onto the magic carpet of reading at an early age for an incredibly inexpensive cost.
The question isn't, how can we afford to help these kids? It's how can we afford not to help them?”
